The work to establish an ice plant in L. Hithadhoo has been awarded to the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO).
The agreement to award this work was signed between the government and MIFCO during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's visit to Hithadhoo as part of his tour of L. Atoll.
Minister Ahmed Shiyam signed the agreement on behalf of the Fisheries Ministry. Project Unit Manager Mohamed Shameem signed on behalf of MIFCO.
Once the work on the ice plant in Hithadhoo is completed and brought into operation, it will bring great convenience to the fishermen of Hithadhoo, L. Atoll, and the surrounding region. It will also particularly benefit those engaged in reef fishing in the area.
Establishing an ice plant in Hithadhoo is a presidential pledge of the President.
