Discussions held with Vietnam on investment opportunities in the Maldives' mariculture sector

Discussions have been held with Vietnam regarding investment opportunities in the Maldives' mariculture sector.

These discussions took place during a meeting held by Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam with the newly appointed Ambassador of Vietnam to the Maldives, Trinh Thi Tam. The meeting was held today at the Fisheries Ministry. The Ambassador's delegation and some senior officials of the Fisheries Ministry participated in this meeting.

The main focus of the discussions in this meeting was on how Vietnam could provide cooperation to advance the Maldives' fishing industry. In this regard, they discussed investment opportunities in the Maldives' mariculture sector.

The Ambassador of Vietnam is appointed to the Maldives as a non-resident ambassador. The Vietnamese Ambassador will reside in Sri Lanka. The new Ambassador of Vietnam is visiting the Maldives to present her credentials. Following the credential presentation ceremony last Sunday, she met with President Dr. Muizzu. During that meeting, the two discussed areas where bilateral relations could be further strengthened, which included the fisheries sector.
