Discussions have been held regarding fisheries-related projects carried out with Indian assistance.
These discussions took place during a courtesy call paid by the Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives, Munu Mahawar, to Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam today.
The discussions primarily focused on ways to resolve the challenges in completing the ongoing projects for the development of the fisheries sector with Indian assistance. They also discussed strengthening collaborative efforts in the future.
Senior officials from the Indian High Commission and the Fisheries Ministry participated in this meeting.
The government announced a $45 million project to develop Felivaru with Indian assistance in late 2020. The loan for the Felivaru development project is provided by India's EXIM Bank.
Components of the Felivaru Development Project
- Construction of a 4,000 metric ton cold storage
- A facility to process and pouch-pack 100 tons per day
- Development of a brine freezing facility
- Development of a refrigerated sea water facility
- Construction of a fishmeal plant
