Discussions held on deploying a FAD near Kolamaafushi

Discussions have been held regarding the deployment of a FAD near GA. Kolamaafushi.

The discussions on establishing a FAD near Kolamaafushi took place during a meeting held today between the Fisheries Ministry and the Kolamaafushi Council. The meeting was attended by State Ministers of the Ministry, Mohamed Muttalib and Aminath Hussain Shareef, along with other senior officials of the Ministry.

During the meeting, the Kolamaafushi Council highlighted the needs of the island. In this regard, discussions were held on deploying a FAD near Kolamaafushi, resolving the issues faced by the Kolamaafushi ice plant, and seeking the Ministry's cooperation to develop mariculture in an island within the jurisdiction of Kolamaafushi. Furthermore, the Fisheries Ministry stated that extensive discussions were held on resolving the difficulties faced by Kolamaafushi fishermen, potential work that can be done in this sector to further advance the fishing industry, and the opportunities available in the field.

The Fisheries Ministry stated that they will work to resolve the issues highlighted by the Kolamaafushi Council.
