The deadline to register for the Ministry of Fisheries' training program, designed to spark youth interest and bring them into the fisheries sector, expires tomorrow.
According to the circular published by the Ministry of Fisheries on October 16, when the program was opened for participation, interested individuals must complete the relevant form and submit it via email to the Ministry before October 23, 2025. If faxing, it should be sent to 3326558, and those emailing are requested by the Ministry to send it to maryam.ruva@fisheries.gov.mv or ahsan.mohamed@fisheries.gov.mv.
This training program, which is planned to run for three months, is open to 5 youths who want to newly enter the fisheries sector. During the training program, participants will be provided with a daily allowance. The Ministry has requested to call 3339276 for further information.
This training program, to be conducted under the Transforming Fisheries Sector in South-West Indian Ocean Region and Maldives Project with the assistance of the World Bank, is a program conducted to create interest in fisheries among the youth and provide them with the opportunity to acquire relevant training and skills to bring youth into fisheries and fisheries-related work.
In addition to providing technical information on fisheries, participants of this program will get the opportunity to actively participate in fishing. In this regard, the Ministry of Fisheries has stated that participants of this program will receive training and skills on how to fish by actively participating in fishing on one of the most notable pole-and-line fishing vessels engaged in skipjack tuna pole-and-line fishing, from the most prominent captains in the Maldives.
