A deadline has been given to register unregistered vessels at Male' North Harbour.
Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), which operates Male' North Harbour, has given a deadline to register vessels seeking services from the North Harbour following the handover of the area's management to the company, extending from the MPL area to the local market breakwater opposite the fish market. Under an agreement between the company and the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, the management of the area has been handed over to MPL starting from June 4, 2025.
MPL stated that since the handed-over area will be managed by Male' North Harbour, the opportunity is now open for unregistered vessels in the North Harbour and vessels wishing to seek services from there to register at Male' North Harbour before the first of August. Furthermore, MPL stated that starting from September 1, all parties seeking services from the harbour will be subject to the harbour management guidelines, and tariff collection will also proceed in accordance with these guidelines.
MPL stated that from September 1 onwards, North Harbour will only provide services to registered vessels. MPL has requested that anyone requiring further information regarding this matter call the Male' North Harbour operations number at 3006545.
