The dates for the 6th Maldives Marine Science Symposium (MMSS 2026) have been announced.
The Maldives Marine Science Symposium is a biennial event organized by the Maldives Marine Research Institute (MMRI) since 2016. MMRI announced today the dates for the sixth symposium in this series. The 6th MMSS is scheduled to be held on August 4-5 next year in Male' City.
MMRI stated that, similar to previous symposiums, "MMSS 2026" will bring together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners in one place to exchange ideas, gain important information, and open up opportunities for significant collaborations. Accordingly, "MMSS 2026" will also open the opportunity to present oral and poster presentations based on the results of broad scientific research conducted in the field of marine science in the Maldives. Furthermore, the themes of this symposium will be determined based on the submitted abstracts, and the opportunity to submit abstracts will be opened early next August, MMRI said.
As in previous years, MMRI has also stated that no fee will be charged for submitting abstracts and presentations, or for participating in the symposium.
As the Marine Symposium is the main platform for sharing marine science research work in the Maldives in one place, MMRI noted that building on the successes of previous symposiums, the sixth symposium will also increase important information for understanding and managing the marine environment of the Maldives.
