Coral planting initiative launched in Hulhumale

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) launched a coral planting initiative yesterday in the channel area of Hulhumale Phase 1.

To commence this initiative, which is being carried out with the participation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Maldives Marine Research Institute (MMRI), specific types of corals were extracted from the eastern reef of Hulhumale and planted in the Phase 1 channel yesterday. Under this coral planting initiative, which is divided into various phases, HDC stated that more corals will be planted in the channel park over the coming year.

HDC's MD Mohamed Mauroof Jameel, along with senior officials from EPA and MMRI, participated in this coral planting event. Speaking about the initiative, the MD of HDC stated that the goal is to breed fish and marine life in the Phase 1 channel and create an underwater garden.

This initiative launched by HDC aims to increase community participation in HDC's activities alongside breeding marine life. HDC stated that the company always strives to initiate and conduct many beneficial activities for the citizens and make Hulhumale a pleasant place.
