Complaints to the President regarding the unavailability of ice from Hoarafushi Ice Plant!

The Hoarafushi Island Council has complained about the unavailability of ice from the HA. Hoarafushi Ice Plant.

The council raised the issue during a meeting held between President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the Hoarafushi Council. The meeting took place this afternoon at the Hoarafushi Council Secretariat. During the meeting, other pressing needs of the island were also shared with the President.

In response, the President stated that projects will proceed as state revenue increases, and that efforts will be made to resolve the issues highlighted by the council.

It is not yet clear why the ice plant is unable to provide ice, nor how long it has been unavailable.

Hoarafushi has a 25-tonne ice plant. It began providing services on Fishermen's Day in 2021.
