The MNDF Coast Guard has urged seafarers to be cautious of the weather.
The MNDF Coast Guard stated that as the National Meteorological Service has forecast the southwest monsoon to intensify across the Maldives region during this period, with generally strong winds, rough seas, and rain, they urge seafarers to be cautious of the weather.
Therefore, the Coast Guard urges not to travel without informing the relevant authorities, to check if items such as life jackets, communication systems, and dewatering pumps are in good condition on the traveling vessel, and for cargo vessels not to overload beyond capacity and to ensure cargo is properly lashed.
Furthermore, the MNDF Coast Guard has urged travelers to wear life jackets and be extra cautious, for diving and water sports organizers to pay special attention to the weather, and not to travel when the National Meteorological Service has issued a Yellow or Orange alert.
