Coast Guard Appeals Against Nighttime Sea Travel

The MNDF Coast Guard has appealed to the public not to travel by sea at night.

The Coast Guard today urged people to avoid nighttime travel and, if weather conditions do not permit, to delay their journeys until the weather improves. Furthermore, the MNDF Coast Guard advised against all non-essential sea travel, and urged those who must travel to pay special attention to the weather.

MNDF made this appeal because the National Meteorological Centre has issued alerts for a large part of the Maldives, forecasting heavy rain and thunderstorms for the next three days, and specifically predicting strong winds and rough seas across the entire country.

MNDF has urged all seafarers to remain attentive to the weather.
