The National Meteorological Service has issued a Yellow Alert for a large area due to anticipated bad weather.
The alert is effective from 11:30 to 15:30, covering the area from Shaviyani Atoll to Meemu Atoll. The Met Office stated that heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected during the alert period. Furthermore, winds are expected to gust up to 40 miles per hour during showers, and seas are anticipated to be rough.
As seas are expected to be rough, the Met Office has urged seafarers to be cautious of the weather.
