Due to worsening weather conditions, a white alert has been issued for a large area of the Maldives.
The National Meteorological Centre issued the white alert from Shaviyani Atoll to Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. The alert, effective from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm for these atolls, forecasts heavy rain and thunderstorms. Furthermore, winds are expected to blow between 19 to 24 miles per hour, with gusts up to 40 miles per hour during showers. Seas are also expected to be rough.
