Bad weather: White alert issued for a large area

The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has issued a white alert for the southern and central atolls due to bad weather.

The white alert was issued at 1:00 pm from M. Atoll to Addu City, forecasting heavy rain and thunderstorms. It is also predicted that winds will gust up to 40 miles per hour during showers. The alert will expire at 7:00 pm tonight.

Forecasting the weather for all regions of the Maldives, the MET office stated that some islands will experience rain in the afternoon, and heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely in some islands.

Winds are expected to blow from the east and southeast at speeds between 10 and 20 miles per hour. Additionally, winds may gust up to approximately 35 miles per hour during showers.

Seas are expected to be moderately rough and rough during showers, with wave heights predicted to be between 4 and 6 feet.

Due to the bad weather, the MET office has urged everyone to be cautious of the weather.
