Bad weather, entire Maldives under White Alert!

The Maldives Meteorological Service has stated that rain and thunderstorms are expected over a large part of the country, with heavy rain and strong winds likely in some islands.

The Met Office stated that along with the rain, winds will be strong across all parts of the Maldives today, and seas will generally be rough. Wave heights are estimated to be between 5-8 feet.

"Winds will blow from the southwest and west at speeds between 15 to 25 miles per hour in the northern and central atolls, and between 13 to 23 miles per hour in the southern atolls. Winds may gust up to 45 to 50 miles per hour during squalls," the Met Office said.

Due to the expected bad weather, a White Alert has been issued for all regions of the Maldives at this time. The alert will expire at 01:30 PM.
