Bad weather again tonight! White alert issued for a large area

The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a white alert for a large part of the country, forecasting heavy rain and strong winds.

The white alert is effective from 12:30 am tonight until 06:30 am tomorrow morning, covering the area from F. Atoll to Addu City. The alert issued for these atolls states that heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected, with wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour during showers.

Forecasting the weather until 08:00 am tomorrow morning, the Maldives Meteorological Service stated that the seas will also be rough. Furthermore, waves are expected to reach heights of 4 to 7 feet.

Due to the bad weather, the Maldives Meteorological Service has urged everyone to be cautious. The police have also appealed to the public to be safe from the weather, especially urging seafarers to check the weather before starting their journeys and to act in accordance with the weather alerts. They also reminded to ensure that safety measures are complete before starting the journey, and to have all passengers wear life jackets.
