The National Meteorological Service has stated that heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected across various parts of the country today.
According to the agency, winds are expected to blow from the west and northwest at speeds between 13 and 23 miles per hour today. Furthermore, winds may gust up to approximately 45 miles per hour during showers.
Seas are also expected to be rough today, with wave heights estimated to be between 4 and 7 feet.
While the southwest monsoon remains strong over the Maldives, the worst weather is currently affecting the northern and central atolls. Consequently, the National Meteorological Service issued a White Alert from HA. Atoll to Th. Atoll starting from 01:00 last night. As the alert expired at 07:00 this morning, it has now been extended until 13:00 this afternoon. The alert was issued forecasting winds between 19 and 24 miles per hour, gusts up to approximately 40 miles per hour, and rough seas in these atolls.
Due to the bad weather, the National Meteorological Service has urged everyone to be cautious of the weather. The agency previously stated that the weather is expected to clear up by Friday.
