Attention! Rain and strong winds expected today as well!

A White Alert has been issued from K. Atoll to Addu City due to expected strong winds.

The alert issued by the Met Office for these atolls at 06:00 this morning states that heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected. Furthermore, winds are expected to gust up to 40 miles per hour during showers. This alert is effective until 12:00 noon.

A White Alert has also been issued from HA. Atoll to K. Atoll. The alert issued for that region at 04:30 states that winds are expected to blow at speeds between 19 and 24 miles per hour. It is also forecasted that seas will be rough due to the wind.

Due to the bad weather, the Coast Guard has urged all seafarers to be cautious of the weather, ensure that safety equipment such as life jackets are complete, and properly check communication devices before commencing their journeys.
