The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources has opened applications for the basic mariculture course conducted under the "Marine Hatchery Skills Development Programme".
The "Marine Hatchery Skills Development Programme" is a joint initiative by the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources and the Maldives Marine Research Institute, aimed at developing reef fish breeding skills and producing technical personnel in this field. Applications for the second basic mariculture course planned for this year under this programme were opened today.
The Fisheries Ministry stated that interested parties should submit the completed course application form along with a copy of their national identity card before 14:00 on 30 September 2025. Forms can be submitted directly to the Ministry or via email to info@mmri.gov.mv. The Ministry also stated that the course is limited to 15 participants, and if more than 15 applications are received, participants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.
The 14-day second basic mariculture course will be held from 18 October 2025 to 30 October 2025 in K. Maniyafushi. Accommodation for participants during the course will be arranged in K. Maniyafushi. The Maldives Marine Research Institute will cover the travel between Male' and Maniyafushi for the course, as well as the participants' accommodation and meals.
