The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) Coast Guard has appealed to the public to be cautious when traveling by sea.
MNDF stated tonight that the National Meteorological Service has forecast strong southwest monsoon conditions across the Maldives region, with rain, thunderstorms, and heavy showers expected over the next three days. As bad weather and rough seas are particularly anticipated in the northern and central atolls, they urge all seafarers to pay close attention to the weather.
The Coast Guard has advised against traveling at night and recommended postponing journeys until conditions improve if the weather is unfavorable. Furthermore, the MNDF Coast Guard appealed to the public to avoid all non-essential sea travel, and urged those who must travel to pay special attention to the weather.
The Met Office has also appealed to everyone, especially seafarers, to remain cautious of the weather. They further urged the public to take precautionary measures to stay safe from potential dangers and minimize damages caused by strong winds and heavy rain.
