The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has given another deadline to remove vessels moored in the "Hulhumale Phase 3" reclamation area.
HDC had previously made public announcements on three separate occasions instructing the removal of vessels moored in the reclamation area. Giving various deadlines for the removal of vessels, the announcement published on 9 November 2025 facilitated the opportunity to moor these vessels in designated areas in Thilafushi, Gulhifalhu, and Kudagiri. However, as many vessels remain moored in the area to date, another public announcement was issued today giving a deadline to remove the vessels.
In the announcement issued today, HDC stated that it is carrying out the necessary work to complete the reclamation of the "Hulhumale Phase 3" areas within a short period in accordance with the Hulhumale Master Plan. Therefore, although public announcements have been made on various occasions to remove vessels moored in the area designated for land reclamation in the Hulhumale lagoon, the corporation noted upon inspection that a large number of vessels in the Hulhumale lagoon have not been removed within the given timeframe. The announcement instructs that vessels moored in the area must be removed before 15:30 on 22 November 2025.
Furthermore, HDC stated that vessels obstructing the land reclamation work that are not removed by their owners within the given deadline will be removed by HDC, and that the corporation will not be responsible for any damages caused to the vessels during this removal process.
