Ali Naeem and Aishath Ali win the fish filleting competition held in Dhuvaafaru!

Ali Naeem and Aishath Ali have won first place in the men's and women's categories, respectively, in the fish filleting competition held today in R. Dhuvaafaru as part of this year's Fishermen's Day activities.

The competition, which was divided into separate men's and women's categories, saw 16 women and 10 men compete. The men's category rounds required each participant to fillet 2 fish, while the women's category required each participant to fillet one fish.

In the highly enthusiastic and competitive men's category, Ali Naeem took first place. He finished filleting two fish in 1 minute and 49 seconds. Ali Ibrahim came in second, finishing in 2 minutes and 2 seconds. Ahmed Ibrahim secured third place in the competition, finishing in 2 minutes and 6 seconds.

Looking at the women's category, Aishath Ali won first place by finishing filleting in 1 minute and 54 seconds. Fathimath Irushadha took second place, finishing in 2 minutes and 21 seconds. Khadheeja Ibrahim secured third place, finishing in 2 minutes and 38 seconds.

The organizers awarded a cash prize of 5,000 Rufiyaa to the first-place winners in both categories, 3,000 Rufiyaa to the second-place winners, and 2,000 Rufiyaa to the third-place winners. In addition, M4PC gifted 5,000 Rufiyaa to the first-place winners, 2,500 Rufiyaa to the second-place winners, and 1,500 Rufiyaa to the third-place winners. The prizes were handed over by Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam.

A VIP fish filleting round was also held during the competition. Participants in this round included Sports Minister Abdulla Rafiu, Council Minister Adam Shareef, and the CEO of MACL and MTCC, DCP (Retired) Ahmed Saudhee. Sports Minister Abdulla Rafiu was the fastest to finish filleting in that round.

From the beginning to the end of the competition, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the First Lady, along with state ministers and senior government officials, observed the event.

Furthermore, individuals who traveled to Dhuvaafaru from across the Maldives to celebrate Fishermen's Day, including fishermen, captains, and a large number of island residents, gathered to watch the competition. They enthusiastically cheered on the participants. The entire area echoed with the voices of supporters until the competition concluded.
