The Coast Guard has refloated the cargo boat named "Gaskuri" that ran aground.
The "Gaskuri" boat, travelling with three people, ran aground while en route from Male' to Six and Six Dhonmaaga Maldives Resort. The 70-foot boat ran aground on a reef near the resort on the 24th of this month.
Upon receiving the report that the boat, loaded with aggregate and sand for the Six and Six Dhonmaaga Maldives Resort, had run aground, the MNDF Male' Area Command, Coast Guard Second Squadron began their operation.
MNDF stated today that a large part of the boat was torn and submerged in the incident. After further inspection by MNDF Coast Guard divers, they obtained the necessary salvage equipment, attached buoyancy barrels, and successfully refloated the boat around 16:05 today. MNDF also stated that the boat is currently being towed by another vessel to Thilafushi.
