As some sea vessels in Addu City are operating without navigation lights, the City Council has ordered such vessels to install them.

In a public announcement issued today, the City Council stated that the council office has recently been receiving complaints about dinghies and small dhoanis operating in Hulhudhoo without navigation lights. The announcement also noted that operating at night without lights, and remaining stationary at sea for fishing and other purposes, significantly increases the risk of a dangerous incident.

In response to these complaints, the City Council today instructed all sea vessels operating in the city to install navigation lights and comply with the laws and regulations.
