The government has decided to increase the number of tokens issued tonight to those collecting canned fish distributed as a Ramadan gift in the Malé area. Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works, Adam Shareef Umar, announced this in a post on X this morning.
In the post, the Minister stated that the distribution of the Ramadan gift proceeded smoothly with easy arrangements last night, and to further ease the process for citizens, changes will be brought when token issuance resumes at 18:00 tonight. Accordingly, the number of tokens issued to each center will be increased compared to last night, and those who have already taken tokens for a later date will have the opportunity to expedite their date and reschedule, the Minister said.
"Arranging a system where individuals facing issues such as taking a token can get assistance and resolve the matter from a single point. When token issuance begins tonight, those who already have a token can proceed with that same token," the Minister stated.
Giving a case of canned fish to every household as a Ramadan gift is a special pledge of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. In accordance with this pledge, households are being gifted a case of 48 cans of 180g MIFCO's Fasmeeru brand tuna in oil. Canned fish cases are currently being distributed in Malé and various regions of the Maldives. The distribution of canned fish cases in the Malé area began on the 20th of this month. 13 centers have been established in the Malé area to distribute the canned fish cases.
