Finance Minister Moosa Zameer has stated that additional fuel shipments will arrive early next month.
Speaking at a press conference held yesterday by the special cabinet committee formed by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu in response to the ongoing war in the Middle East, Finance Minister Moosa Zameer said that since the fuel trade is conducted by many other businesses in addition to STO, measures are being taken to ensure that these businesses are not harmed by the actions taken during this period.
Looking at the current situation, the Minister stated that there is an adequate stock of fuel with the fuel brought by STO's two vessels, Alimas and Neon. The Minister also said that two more shipments of fuel will arrive in the first week of next month.
"Around April 2-3, a vessel loaded from Singapore will arrive. It will also have diesel and petrol. Along with that, around the 4th or 5th, another vessel loaded from Sohar, Oman... a vessel we hired on the spot. Fuel is coming in that. Therefore, by the grace of God, we have the fuel needed for day-to-day operations," the Finance Minister said.
The Minister stated that looking at the current situation, although the price of fuel in the global market has doubled, fuel is being provided with subsidies so that individual industries are not affected, and fuel is also being provided to public service providers at a reasonable price. The Minister also stated that there are no plans to change the price of fuel in the coming days.
