Ilyas Haneef, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who has been temporarily in charge of managing the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) until today, has expressed his gratitude to the company's management and staff.
In a message sent today, Acting CEO Ilyas Haneef, who temporarily took over the company's operations during the past seven months without a CEO, stated that he is immensely grateful for the cooperation received from the management team and MIFCO's hardworking staff in resolving the challenges faced in running the company during the periods of the past year when the CEO position was vacant. He added that while hard work is required to overcome the company's current challenges, he has no doubt that with the cooperation of the diligent staff in shaping the company's future, further progress can be achieved. He also requested support for the new CEO.
"I request all staff to give their full cooperation to Dr. Vitaly Lyubimof and the management team to successfully carry out the plans for the company's future," Haneef's message read.
Dr. Vitaly Lyubimof, a Ukrainian national with extensive experience in management, particularly in crisis and risk management, has been appointed as the new CEO of MIFCO. Reports indicate that the newly appointed CEO will arrive in the Maldives today and officially assume his duties. This marks the first time in MIFCO's history that a foreign national has been appointed as its CEO.
The appointment of a new CEO comes more than six months after the former CEO, Ahmed Shamah Rasheed, was dismissed from his position as CEO and MIFCO board director. Shamah was dismissed on May 21 of this year. Until today, the company was managed under the supervision of its Chief Financial Officer, Ilyas Haneef.
