The opportunity to submit abstracts for the 6th Maldives Marine Science Symposium (MMSS2026) has been opened.
The Maldives Marine Research Institute (MMRI) stated that abstract submissions for MMSS2026 opened on the 7th of this month. Interested parties can submit their abstracts via the designated Google Form until 14:00 on March 24, 2026. MMRI also noted that no fee will be charged for submitting abstracts.
MMRI had previously stated that the themes for MMSS2026 will be determined based on the abstracts submitted.
The Maldives Marine Science Symposium is a biennial event organized by MMRI since 2016. The sixth symposium in this series (MMSS2026) is scheduled to be held in Male' City on August 4-5 next year. MMRI stated that, similar to past symposiums, MMSS2026 will serve as a gathering for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to exchange ideas, gain valuable insights, and open doors for important collaborations. Accordingly, the opportunity is open to present oral and poster presentations based on the results of extensive scientific research conducted in the marine science fields of the Maldives.
As the Marine Symposium is the main platform for sharing marine science research work in the Maldives, MMRI noted that building on the successes of previous symposiums, the sixth symposium will further enhance vital knowledge for understanding and managing the marine environment of the Maldives.
