Allied Insurance has announced that 790.06 kg of waste was collected from the sea and land during the "Dive-40" event held yesterday in K. Himmafushi to kick off the company's 40th anniversary celebrations.
Notable activities during yesterday's event, held under the name "Dive-40", included an awareness session conducted in collaboration with the Maldives Academy of Diving, a "Dive Against Debris" initiative, and a Himmafushi coastal cleanup carried out jointly with the Himmafushi Council, school, and guesthouses. Allied's management and staff actively participated in all three activities, making significant efforts towards the goal of reducing plastic and protecting the oceans.
Allied stated that through the "Dive-40" event's efforts to collect environmentally harmful waste, 790.06 kg of waste was gathered from the sea and land. According to Allied, this included non-biodegradable items such as plastic, glass, metal, wood, tires, and clothing. Allied expressed satisfaction with the collection of such a large amount of environmentally damaging waste, noting that the event highlighted the need for continued efforts in the future.
"The reason is that this clearly demonstrated the importance of creating an aware society that responds to moving away from plastic," Allied stated.
Allied announced that, to further raise awareness, the company has decided to feature a special product created by a Maldivian artisan using the plastic waste collected from Dive-40 at the Maldives Marine Expo 2025, scheduled for next February. Allied noted that the main purpose of featuring this product is to showcase it as an exemplary symbol of what can be achieved when people work together.
Allied described the start of its 40th-anniversary activities as highly successful. The company also extended special thanks to all parties based in Himmafushi, the Allied team, and the team of skilled divers who traveled from Male' to participate, for their efforts in making Dive-40 an event that yielded positive results.
Allied Insurance's anniversary falls on January 30th. In connection with this day, the company holds various activities every year. Unlike previous years, Allied's goal for its 40th anniversary is to spread the celebratory activities throughout the year and conduct them across different parts of the Maldives. Allied stated that the reason for this is to share the company's 40 years of progress with as many citizens as possible, acknowledging the trust and confidence all Maldivian citizens have placed in the company's development.
