Male' City Council has fined 20 vessels illegally moored without permission in the lagoons of Male' and Villimale'.
The council stated that the vessels were identified during an operation conducted to facilitate the optimal use of the lagoon and to ensure compliance with general regulations.
During this operation, the Villimale' lagoon was checked, and 17 vessels moored without permission were stickered and fined. Additionally, three vessels illegally moored at the Male' South Harbour (Tsunami Monument area) in a way that obstructed the Villimale' ferry system were also fined. The City Council noted that they had received complaints that these vessels were disrupting ferry operations.
Male' City Council is undertaking numerous efforts to maintain order in the lagoons and stop the illegal mooring of vessels. Such operations are carried out periodically by the council. The City Council stated that its Harbour and Management Section received significant assistance from the Villimale' Police Unit in conducting this operation.
