The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has officially raised its purchasing rate for skipjack tuna to MVR 22.00 per kilogram, effective today.
This latest adjustment follows a rate increase on August 29, when MIFCO bumped skipjack prices to MVR 21.00 per kg. Today's move adds another MVR 1.00 per kilogram, delivering direct financial relief and enhanced earnings to local vessels across the country.
While skipjack tuna rates have risen, MIFCO confirmed that yellowfin tuna rates remain unchanged, holding steady at their existing structure.
The updated MVR 22.00 per kg skipjack rate is now active across all primary state-run processing complexes, centers, and harbor collection facilities:
The price revision aligns with ongoing government policy to support fishermen’s livelihoods and reflect current supply dynamics in the local market.
