Malé City Council Fines 11 Vessels Over Unauthorized Use of Vilimalé Lagoon

The Malé City Council has fined 11 vessels found operating and anchored in the Vilimalé lagoon in violation of municipal maritime regulations.

The enforcement action is part of an ongoing effort by the council to reorganize the harbor, alleviate congestion, and clear unauthorized craft that obstruct vessels with valid mooring permits. According to the council, the penalized craft had compromised the order of the lagoon, creating operational difficulties for legitimate users.

As the governing authority overseeing the Vilimalé lagoon, the council noted that regulatory operations will continue in order to eliminate unauthorized mooring and maintain standard harbor protocols.

The Malé City Council urged all boat owners and operators to strictly comply with established lagoon usage guidelines, warning that regulatory enforcement and penalties will continue against non-compliant vessels.
