Fisheries Minister meets MTCC, MIFCO CEOs to accelerate projects

The Ministry of Fisheries Agriculture and Ocean Resources has held discussions with key state companies to expedite major infrastructure projects aimed at bringing significant progress to the fishing industry.

Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam met with the Chief Executive Officer of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) DCP(retired)Ahmed Saudhi and the Chief Executive Officer of Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) Mohamed Anas to discuss advancing the ongoing work at a rapid pace.

The officials focused extensively on accelerating the development of cold storage facilities and harbors in GDh. Thinadhoo and HA. Ihavandhoo. The discussions also explored ways to fast-track the harbor upgrades at GA. Kooddoo and the Addu Fisheries Complex in S. Hulhumeedhoo, ensuring fishers will soon benefit from the expanded capacity.

The government has initiated several infrastructure projects across the country to resolve the weighing and storage challenges currently faced by local fishermen.
