The Bandidhoo Island Council has issued an official announcement requesting the removal of all personal fishing gear left around the island's harbor area by September 30, 2026, as part of efforts to keep the waterfront clean and organized.
According to the council notice, equipment left along the beach sides and within the palm trees facing the harbor—including fiberglass boxes, anchors, ropes, tanks, barrels, water pumps, engines, and generators—is spoiling the visual aesthetic of the waterfront. Boat owners and local fishermen have been advised to remove their items before the set deadline.
